Eventually, everyone (at least up to the 2003 models) has a problem with the sheet metal screws that attach the gas struts to the side of the basement cargo doors. After repeated openings and closings, the sheet metal screws pull out from the thin metal in the doors. The best and easiest solution to fixing this problem is to use pop rivets to reattach the bracket to the door. You can get an inexpensive pop rivet tool for about $10 at WalMart or your local hardware store.
Although I only had this problem with one door, as a preventative measure I pop-riveted all of the other doors.
