Faucet Replacement

One of the easiest interior upgrade projects for the D is to replace the bathroom and kitchen sink faucets.

Our bathroom sink faucet started to leak, and rather than fix it, we decided to replace it since we never really liked the single-handle design. We went to a large hardware store and found a really nice solid brass fixture for around $25. Installation is relatively simple, although working under the bathroom sink in our 36T was a little tight. It took about 45 minutes to remove the old faucet and install the new one.

One of the things that my wife really missed in the D's kitchen was a sprayer for the sink. In additon, she did not like the chrome faucet as it always had water spots on it. So, it was off to Home Depot again where we found a really nice white plastic kitchen faucet with an integrated sprayer. Cost was about $100. Installation was even simpler than replacing the bathroom faucet because there is a lot more room to work under the sink.

If you elect to replace either faucet, take into account the following:
Read the instructions before you leave the store. Although almost all faucets will integrate well with the plastic plumbing on the D, some faucets require the use of teflon tape on the pipe threads and some require putty on the base. Be sure you have everything you need before you leave the store!

Some faucets have nice long flexible copper tubing and others have short, solid copper pipes that make installation more difficult.

Both the kitchen and sink faucets are single-hole. Make sure that the fixture you purchase will work with a single hole opening in the sink. Most are set up for either single-hole or three-hole.
