Dometic offers a 3-year warranty on the newer referigerators. However, the warranty states that you must have proof the required annual preventative maintenance has been performed for the second and third years of the warranty to remain in effect. The preventative maintenance required is an inspection, cleaning and full diagnostics performed on the entire electronic assembly, burner assembly, wiring and cooling unit. A copy of the receipt covering the maintenance checks must accompany the warranty claim during the second and third year of ownership. The preventative maintenance is the original purchaser's responsibility and should take about one hour.
One D owner has been refused warranty coverage during his second year of ownership as he did not have the required preventative maintenance done. However, another D owner noted that his claim was processed without requiring any such proof of preventative maintenance. If you want to be safe, have the preventative maintenance completed and keep the receipt. If you have an extended warranty, I assume that this would also not cover your expenses as the original warranty takes precedence in most cases and you also usually have to prove that you followed manufacturer's maintenance schedule.
